Délani Valin
About
Délani Valin is a Métis author, researcher and executive speechwriter. Her debut poetry collection, Shapeshifters (Nightwood Editions, 2022), received nominations for the Indigenous Voices Award and the Gerald Lampert Memorial Award. Her poetry has been awarded The Malahat Review’s Long Poem Prize and subTerrain’s Lush Triumphant Award. Her work has appeared in Contemporary Verse 2, Arc Poetry, Adbusters, Room, PRISM International, Soliloquies Anthology, among others. She sits on the editorial board at The Malahat Review.
Délani has an MA in Professional Communication from Royal Roads University, and her area of research is in Métis experiences of therapy and counselling. She has a BA in Creative Writing from Vancouver Island University. She is an alumna of Banff’s Centre for Arts and Creativity, and Audible’s Indigenous Writer’s Circle.
